- In this simple example, the SatstreamNet Hub uses a separate satellite teleport
to that used by the VSAT Broadband network service. It could also, of course, operate
via the same teleport.
- As SatstreamNet only uses an outbound/downstream satellite channel, it does not
interfere with the operational communications network on board the ship. As such,
multicast content can be received on the same VSAT antenna used by the operational
network.
- If a vessel operator has an operational communications service provider that does
not provide them with media services, then one of our service partners can arrange
this without having to replace any of the existing VSAT equipment.
- On board the vessel, the media network is added seamlessly into the existing VSAT
L-Band receive chain by the addition of a signal splitter. There is negligible impact
to the operational network as a result of adding the splitter to the Rx chain.
- Ethernet cable can support a separation between the Roaming Controller and the Media
Gateway of around 100 metres. Longer distances are achievable by simply adding an
Ethernet Extender or Ethernet switch in the link to boost the signal.
